Children are
our Future…
Teach Them Well and Let Them Lead the World
Would you like for your child to be more assertive, more creative, and more confident at school, with his or her friends and in everyday life? What parent wouldn't. Childhood is the most important time in any person's life. The habits, personality traits and sense of self worth that they form during their childhood years will determine the adult they become when they grow up. For this reason, it is of the utmost importance that you choose the right activities for your child. As a Vocal Coach who has taught both the young and the young at heart for over 27 years, I have witnessed the positive effect that singing and speech lessons can have on a child. (It was for this reason, that I decided to create a special version of my revolutionary Vocal Science Program just for kids!)
It's very hard for most adults to remember how terrifying and socially awkward that childhood and the teenage years can be for children. There is pressure to fit in, succeed at school, and feel confident in themselves. These pressures often cause children who are naturally somewhat shy to revert into a shell even more. This is a common safety mechanism that many children often use to protect themselves. A side effect is that they don't develop into all that they can be and don't always experience everything that life has to offer.
The voice is not only a tool for verbal communication; it is also a reflection of the inner state of a person. I can often tell a lot about a person just by listening to their voice - not what they are saying but the actual sound of their voice. Often what I hear is that the true spirit and charisma of the person is subverted and hidden. In situations such as these singing is one way to bring the child out of their "shell". The vocal course that I offer is a combination of speech and singing. It is designed to not only improve the speaking and singing voice of the student but also to make them more assertive and confident in themselves.
I have had countless parents tell me that their children became happier, more self confident, more sociable, more successful at school and generally more well adjusted after their vocal lessons. In some cases, the improvements to their speaking voices simply made them more comfortable speaking in front of others. For others the fact that they could now sing very well increased their confidence around other children and gave them a new skill to attract more friends of both genders. One thing that was common to all was that they felt special and thus were more open to sharing their individual personality with others, as well as taking challenges and participating in new activities.
Of course, some children have other issues that are much more serious than shyness: lisps, speech impediments, Attention Deficit Disorder and even light epilepsy. Needless to say, these are much more debilitating and have a much greater effect on the psyche of a child. Children that are so afflicted can thus benefit even that much more from speech and vocal training. Because it requires intense focus on vocalization, vocal instruction can outright cure lisps and speech impediments and can also reduce the symptoms of attention deficit disorder and epilepsy.
Lastly, singing is a completely wholesome and fun activity that your child will be able to enjoy for the rest of their lives. Music is something that enriches the soul and your child will live a fuller life due to their newfound singing abilities. In fact, it has been proven by scientific studies that children who study music actually do better in school at subjects such as math, science and English than students who have not. Therefore, it is no overstatement to say that vocal lessons will benefit your child in a multitude of ways.
